Details
You’re invited to submit a proposal to contribute an event or session
as part of the programme around the upcoming MUMS exhibition in the
Community Space at Tramway, Glasgow, which will run from early/mid
October until late November (exact dates TBC).
MUMS (Meet Up and Make Stuff) is a Glasgow-based participatory arts
project creating spaces for m/others to come together, make work and
explore experiences of m/otherhood and care collectively. The project
uses creative practice as a way of sharing experiences, building
community and thinking critically about the social and political
structures that shape caring lives. You can see more about MUMS and the

USING THE SPACE
Sessions can take place during Tramway's public opening hours, or during
the times it's closed to the public (depending on the needs of the
session):
* Wednesday–Friday: 11am–5pm
* Saturday: 11am–6pm
* Sunday: 11am–5pm
* Monday–Tuesday: closed
If an event takes place while Tramway is open to the public, it would
ideally be open for members of the public to join. Where that isn't
appropriate, the session would at least need to work with the
understanding that it is taking place within a public exhibition space,
so visitors may enter the space or observe what is happening.
There is also the possibility of holding closed/private sessions on
Mondays or Tuesdays, when Tramway is closed to the public, where this
would be more appropriate for the group or activity.
If you would be interested in contributing something, I'd love to hear
from you. I've attached/included a very short proposal form to give me
the practical information I need to start putting the programme
together. This doesn't need to be a fully developed proposal – a brief
outline is absolutely fine.
There is quite a tight timeframe for putting the programme together, so
I'd be really grateful if you could return the form by Friday 28th August.
Apologies for the short turnaround. If you're interested in taking part
but aren't able to get the form back to me by then, please just send me
a quick email to let me know you're interested and we can follow up from
there.
I'm hoping the programme can become a way of connecting work that is
already happening around care, gender and feminist practice, and of
creating a space in which different communities and perspectives can
encounter and support one another.

* This project is proudly trans-inclusive and adopts an expansive definition of Motherhood. Under our definition of Motherhood, we hold anyone from a marginalised gender with caring responsibilities - including cis women, trans women, trans-men, non-binary carers, and non-birthing mothers. We recognise adoptive mothers, bereaved mothers, surrogate mothers & those whose pregnancies were not carried to term.
We have made the choice to use the word ‘Mother’ rather than any alternative because of its social and cultural significance relating to notions of the maternal and care, the marginalisation of these identities and experiences and the ongoing struggle to challenge that within a wider project to challenge all forms of marginalisation.
